Karate Association of India is the only National Federation for Karate Sports in India duly affiliated with World Karate Federation(WKF), Asian Karate Do Federation(AKF), Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) and South Asian Karate Do Federation (SAKF). KAI is also recognised by Govt. of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports). KAI has 34 State/Province Members all over India along with SSCB, Army, ITBP. Assam Rifles and many Police Forces as a Corporate Members.
KAI was incorporated as the non profitable organization under Govt. of India (Ministry of Company and Corporate Affairs) and with the aim and objectives of only to promote the tremendous art of Karate Sports in all over India at School, Collages, University and Corporate level not only as a Martial Art of Self Defence but also as a Sport. Karate Sports is now a medal event in School Games, National Games, SAF Games & Asian Games and Karate is recognized by International Olympic Committee and Olympic Council of Asia.
KAI have more than 200 approved Clubs/Style Associations of different Karatenstyles like Goju Ryu, Shito Ryu, Shotokan, Shorin Ryu and Wado Ryu etc. KAI has a strength of 7 WKF and 60 AKF qualified Referees/Judges and 12 WKF accredited/Certified Coaches Under the Presidentship of Sensei Karate R. Thiagarajan and General Secretary Shihan Bharat Sharma.
KAI is fully involved in developing and popularising Karate Sport in India and in a very short span of time have produced International level Players/Coaches and Referees/Judges. The membership is open for all technically qualified people/clubs/organisations who agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of KAI by following the WKF rules unconditionally.
